With light luggagge, one
suitcase, one bag and 2 backpacks, we've been flying, waiting, flying, waiting
and flying again for around 30 hours. After the arrival we checked into the
Coral Tree Inn motel,
checked out the pool, got our 4WD car, bought some fresh, local, sweet and ripe
fruits and after being awake for about 50 hours in a row, finally went to sleep
again on Friday evening. On Saturday we had
breakfest at the Beethoven (Swiss Bakery), bought some more books in the book
exchange and then slept, suffering from a mild jetlag, on and of around the
pool. in the evening we ate dinner with another swiss couple we met on the
plane. We as well picked our car up for
this trip. We rented a Landcruiser with a roof tent which would enable us to go
and visit as well some sites which require a four wheel driven car. We found
the best value to be a car from Travel
Car Center in Sydney, not only were they reasonable in price, but as
well completely equipped for outback travelling with for instance a winch and
even a sattelite emergency beacon (EPIRB) On
Sunday we made a little trip towards Port Douglas, on the way there we visited
the Wild World Zoo. Back in Cairns we captured the first Sunset of this
vacation. We hope there are many more to come. |
