On monday we brought our
Landcruiser in for the 20'000 km service. During the day we visited Glenelg and
went shopping at Rundle Mall. In the Evening we fetched our car again.
On Tuesday we set out towards the Barossa Valley where we visited the Wolf
Blass Winery to sample some of their famous wines. Obviously we stacked our
storage up with some of their products. From the Barossa Valley we
followed the Murray River further into the Riverland. The Murray River sets out
from the Snowy Mountains in Victoria to finally reach the sea near Adelaide.
The Murray River is a very important water source for a lot of Wineries and
Farmers in South Australia and in Victoria. The River can be travelled as well
in a leisurely fashion by renting a houseboat. From here we drove on
through the Wyperfield Nationalpark, which features the typical landscapes in
the mallee country. Further on we travelled into the Grampians. A beautiful
nationalpark featuring an alpine landscape with many mountains, waterfalls and
a diverse flora and fauna. Many beautiful walks invited us to explore this vast
park. Since the mountains are not much higher than 1'100 meters, even we could
master the walks that led us on top of them where we enjoyed the spectacular
views. Sunday night we spent at a beautiful campground accessible only through
dirt roads. Actually it was the coldest night we spent camping so far. The
temperature falling below 5° celsius. We were not really prepared for these
temperatures, so we dressed in about 3 different layers of clothing to keep
warm. |
